Ask an Author Time!
Happy Friday, everyone! For the first time in years, I'm participating in a live Author Question and Answer Panel!
The first time was at a Writer's Conference (LTUE) back in 2012. It was nerve-wracking but SO fun! I loved the camaraderie we developed though we met for the first time--and the audience! What wonderful support they showed us.
This time, we're holding it online! Guess what? You're invited! You can create a guest account and sign in and ask your undying questions to the authors! You'll hear us bumbling around as we answer but we'll have fun.
What have you always wanted to ask an author?

Day #5 Masquerade Ball Bloghop: A Night Out
Hello! So today I’m hosting one of the authors from Masquerade: Oddly Suited. I’m keeping my guest anonymous as this is the “masked” part of our Ball. Each author will “unmask” his or her own character on April 30th when our book releases. What a way to bring it in! Welcome to the Masquerade Ball blog hop!
So, about my author guest: “I started writing poetry and short stories in my early years of primary school and won my first writing competition when I was a gap-toothed seven-year-old. I used to have a pink and purple typewriter when I was a kid and I sorely wish I had a grown-up version now! I've recently celebrated my 10th 'blogversary'.”
Here’s a sneak peek teaser you will not find in the publication. Enjoy!

Show don't Tell #IWSG
IWSG: a place where writers and friends share woes or hugs.
Welcome to mine!
Show, don't tell, they say. Less is more and more is less, they say. Well ... HA!
Sometimes I give longwinded explanations and confuse the masses. I reiterate it into what I think is simpler but still gain a following of mass confusion.
One of my writerly frustrations is teaching or leading. I can do fiction well. But when it comes to something else, it filters out differently from my brain to my mouth. The past few months I've spent hours creating marketing strategies for Masquerade: Oddly Suited and have shared my vision with the anthology authors.
I created some visuals and hope that my effort explains better in depth than jumbled words. My sister once asked me to explain something to her as though she is a 4th grader. I don't want to offend anyone by being too simple.
What are your strategies, techniques, when holding workshops or presentations at author events?
Guess what? Our book releases April 30th! Squeee! We are hosting many events that is building to the climax. We also have an $50 Amazon gift card giveaway:

Good or Bad? The Perspective View #IWSG
IWSG: a place where writers and friends share woes or hugs.
Welcome to mine!
Please forgive me for posting way past Wednesday! The month escaped me and I remembered too late!
The question of the month is: Whose perspective do you like to write from best, the hero (protagonist) or the villain (antagonist)? And why?
| photo by TK Hammonds via Unsplash.com |
I always write through the protagonist's viewpoint because I have an affinity toward good guys (and gals) compared to bad ones. It's just easy for me to put myself in the place of someone who strives to make right choices and overcome obstacles.
I have written one book through a young man's point of view who's turned into a demon on his 18th birthday. He doesn't really see himself as a villain until he recognizes the harm he's doing to others and is shocked at his behavior. He has internal struggles but doesn't know how to cope with his existence. Though he does have heroics, the characters view him as a villain! Haha

Another story I wrote is through an assassin's viewpoint but he falls in love with his victim and goes against all odds to protect her and her son against his handler (he does slay a group of people at the beginning of the book).
I suppose it all depends on what my muse wants me to write! What about you? Do you prefer writing through the good guy's perspective, or the bad guy's?
