RockStar, new adult romance
Rock Star is a New Adult Romance, and an "emotionally driven novel that defines the life of a rock star, on, and offstage."Famous rock star Moggie struggles from the tragic loss of his parents, and is suddenly thrust into another loss as he meets Beth who is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
Would he be able to carry her safely off her horse? Every muscle in his body screamed agony. Even now he trembled where he stood. He took a sharp swallow and gave her a quick nod.
“Okay, don’t drop me now—”
Her sentence was cut short as Moggie lost his footing and hold on her. He swore as they crumpled to the ground. Beth screamed and tucked her head against the hollow of his shoulder, using him as her landing pad. He knew she was way light, but it was his body that couldn’t handle his own weight.
He busted out laughing. “You are right, I am a wimp!”
Beth lifted her face, her hands digging into his shirt. “I—I thought I was going to get hurt,” she gasped for air as she spoke. “It’s not a good thing for a girl like me to take a fall.”
Moggie’s face straightened. It wasn’t funny to laugh. He felt awful. He stared into her eyes and forgot how to breathe. Then she burst out laughing. She laughed until her tears rolled down his neck into his hair. He started to laugh, too, until he realized something.
She was half on him. His laughter faded, but she didn’t seem to realize until he brushed the back of his knuckles against the silkiness of her cheekbone. Her face straightened and her breath was a raspy wheeze in her lungs.
“Don’t . . .”
But he was beyond beyond. He extended his fingers and glided his hand to the nape of her neck and brought her forward until their lips brushed. Salt. Salt and air and warmth was what she tasted like.
