Besides writing, what other creative outlets do you have?
I've always loved drawing. It was the first thing I learned before writing. My mother is an artist and she'd draw me pictures of horses and I'd spend my time tracing over them with my pencil until I was able to go at it on my own.
After years of drawing with pencil, I tried drawing portraits using graphites. I've used colored pencils, soft and hard pastels, oil pastels, charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, marker... To say the least, I feel that I've excelled with graphites. I feel unsure about my other art forms.
I've always stayed clear of digital art. I was scared of the learning curve. Then one day, I decided to enter a contest via Webtoons.com and forced myself to learn how to do digital art. It was a learning curve that took me a week to pin down. Whew! I thought it would take me months! One thing, though, if you know how to draw with a pencil, going digital isn't so difficult--it's the learning the applications of the different "buttons" that's the toughest thing!

I've experimented with photo editing and making mock book covers just to see if I could do it. Still a work in progress:

Then there's photography. And cooking. Baking. Cutting hair. Haha!

My daughter's Extreme A-line Hair cut when she was 10. This was a HUGE challenge as it was my very first one. I'd gotten the instructions from online. Glad it came out way cute. Whew! |
Then there's making friends! That's all I can think of for now on what I can do other than write.
Exciting news! The 2019 IWSG Anthology has a new cover!

Find love at the ball…
Can a fake dating game show lead to love? Will a missing key free a clock-bound prince? Can a softball pitcher and a baseball catcher work together? Is there a vampire living in Paradise, Newfoundland? What’s more important—a virtual Traveler or a virtual date to the ball?
Ten authors explore young love in all its facets, from heartbreak to budding passion. Featuring the talents of L.G. Keltner, Jennifer Lane, C.D. Gallant-King, Elizabeth Mueller, Angela Brown, Myles Christensen, Deborah Solice, Carrie-Anne Brownian, Anstice Brown, and Chelsea Marie Ballard.
Hand-picked by a panel of agents and authors, these ten tales will mystify and surprise even as they touch your heart. Don your mask and join the party…

My story's title is The Cog Prince. A little about it:
Falling in love, saving the day, and a masque--oh my! The clock strikes the thirteenth hour and Ivy is sucked into a masquerade ball of whirling dancers where the Cog Prince has summoned her.
Mysterious darkness seeks their destruction and she alone holds the key. Will Ivy save his kingdom in time?
Can't wait for its release!

Though I have other creative avenues, the one that provides the best escapism is writing of course!
