How has your creativity in life evolved since you began writing?
I was 8 years old when I first started writing. Simple poetry and stories. Writing became my escapism, my way of self-expression through the poetic word when I was in high school. Not until my later years in school did I start with full-novel writing.
At first, I had a difficult time seeing my characters' faces. They felt unreal and unimaginable. The older I became and the more I wrote, it became easier to see, feel, and hear them. Now, I experience life through the worlds I build and people I meet--it's better than anything television or movies can ever bring. Haha!
Also, my creativity has escaped into strange ways of thinking like this photo to the right!
One day, while going for a nice, long walk in the neighborhood, I came across a historical building built of stones that had burnt down a few weeks before. It looked so creepy that I easily thought a vampire would swoop out of it and steal me off my feet. Ha! I hurried my pace, trying to hold back a shudder.
My writing, has, taken me far from this world in the most creative manner! To be honest, I've been writing for so long I'm not sure how to answer the original question. 😝

That is SO how my brain works. All. The. Time. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! I'd love to hear some of your ventures with stuff that jumps out at you! xD
DeleteI really try to avoid going through the imaginative process that leads me to believe there's a murderer in my house! It is kind of nice when you reframe your ability to do that as creativity though.
ReplyDeleteI started writing at a very young age too. It's really fun to go back and see what you were thinking as a kid, isn't it?
Indeed! Haha! Just the other day, we heard a couple of cats fighting UNDER our house and even felt the vibration. My daughter stamped her foot and I turned to my other daughter and said, "If we can feel that, imagine if someone can dig their way through the floor with a sharp knife?" My brain! x(
DeleteWe see the world differently because we know there is a story in everything.
ReplyDeleteWriter or not, I would think someone had entered and was hiding somewhere in the house.
True!
DeleteI love that normal vs. writer brain image - so true! It's amazing what mundane things we writers can transform :-) Cheers - Ellen
ReplyDeleteIndeed! And the fabulous stories we weave!
DeleteI'm definitely more observant than before I started writing seriously. Sometimes I'm like, how have I never noticed 'that' before? :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Right?
