I know we all say one time or another that we don't care what others think. Deep down in the recesses of our darkest corner, I feel we all care. We are validated whether by action, word, or deed--even with ourselves. I've found, lately, all work and no play makes Liz a dull girl! Dull inside and out. I need to balance my life with validation--reward myself in one way or another.
My child showed me this hypnotic video entitled "Validation". It's refreshing. :)
After viewing this, please watch this next one, because, as our hero in "Validation", we never know how we affect others...
How do you reward yourself after hard work?
I reward myself with a day or two of just reading and not worrying about writing. Of course, some tea or wine with that.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! I love curling up with a book and reading someone else's hard bloody sweat and brain work while I let mine rest! xD
DeleteThe guy in the first one wasn't expecting a compliment, was he?
ReplyDeleteNo, he wasn't! He was so used to helping others out that when he got it in return, he was taken aback. <3
DeleteAbsolutely amazing. Thank you.
ReplyDelete<3 you're welcome
DeleteReally great reminder that the little things mean a lot.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! <3
DeleteI usually don't watch short films over three minutes, but both of those just sucked me in. I really like the Validation one, and the thought of the rewards . . . well, I've had days like that in that video. I reward myself with reading, a little Netflix time, cuddles with my family, a short conversation with my husband, a cup of tea, a walk with the dog, any small thing that works as a "feel good" moment.
ReplyDeleteI love that. The little things DO mean a lot, don't they?
DeleteI love the actor in the first one.
ReplyDeleteThis really was wonderful.
Yes, I like him too. He did a great job in this video, didn't he? :)
DeleteSo right. Without some encouragement we all get down. I recognize that Validation Guy. He's from the old series Bones. I need him in the mornings to get me started.
ReplyDeleteOh, I do like Hodgins as well! :)
DeleteI reward myself with some dark chocolate, preferably with some hazelnut or almond bits sprinkled in. It's also great to kick back and read after some hard work. And you shouldn't feel guilty about reading. It's the other (and very important) half of writing.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to reward the small things as well! I need to have a reward system for myself, it makes things more tolerable. True, reading is fun! :)
DeleteI usually won't start a show, or I'll put some limitation in place until said goal is achieved. I'm a work horse. Dangle those carrots. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, even work horses work forward to them dangling carrots. I love that analogy because that in itself is reward when the goal is met! Thanks for your thoughts! :)
