Geology of Utah!
One of my most favorite science studies is geology! If I grew up to be a geologist, I'd want to live in Utah--I'm halfway there (but I'd rather be a writer). Utah has an interesting and wide array of land formations that would keep one busy.
Here is a short clip of several of the same parks that have different personalities from one spot to another:
Crazy, isn't it?
Location: just about anywhere in Utah!
How does nature lure you to explore?
Geology was one of my subjects at university. There are some crazy rock formations here. Your Goblin Valley gallery link doesn't pull up the gallery - just the photo you've already shown.
ReplyDeleteAmazing rock formations. What a cool planet we have :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is thinking about going into a branch of geology. She's also thinking about moving to the States when she's older. maybe I should suggest Utah :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous scenery! I think I'm going to save a couple of those pics for inspirational purposes. :)
ReplyDeleteNice post!

I couldn't get the gallery to come up, but I love the video. Amazing pictures!
ReplyDeleteI always tell people, they should see Utah. It's one of the prettiest states. I've only been a few times but each time I marvel at its beauty.
ReplyDeleteUtah is a great and beautiful place. I always love driving through there.
ReplyDeleteI've never been that far west and looks like a place I would love to visit.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to Jane in the comment above, Yes, people have been filming westerns in Utah ever since the first movie cameras were made.
ReplyDeleteMy family has quite a connection (via Grandpa) to Utah scenery. The Shafer Trail and Shafer Canyon in Arches National Park are rather famous. They're also in a really beautiful area with incredible scenery.
Quite the variety!
ReplyDeleteMy brother is a geologist. I got him a t-shirt that says "What is your favorite rock group? Igneous? Metamorphic? Sedimentary?"
ReplyDeleteGoblin Valley, I want to go there:))
ReplyDeleteI love Utah's geology. I take advantage of it every year to go skiing in Salt Lake City. Best slopes in the US. Great post and happy A-Z blogging.
ReplyDeleteUtah is so beautiful! This makes me want to go even more!

I enjoyed studying geology and have always suspected that Utah was more special, geology-wise, than the other states.
ReplyDeleteTwas a great post here.
I wish you a Happy Easter.
Beautiful rock formations! I remember the Kapurpurawan rock formations we have in Ilocos in the Philippines. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post. It reminds me how incredibly varied our states are, and how much they have to offer. Facincating formations and sheer beauty! Thanks!

For my parents 40th anniversary they toured some National Parks (all the way from England) and Utah was a favourite. I can see why!
ReplyDeleteSome of those photographs are gorgeous :) Have you been to Utah? I'd love to see some of your photographs too.
ReplyDeleteThose are amazing photos, especially the first one. I'd love to visit some day.
ReplyDeleteI can recall watching one of those documentaries discussing rock formations and what not. Of course the geologic spectacular-ness that is Utah had a subsection discussing the various formations, how they may have come to be how the color striations formed and so much more. I would probably consider that landscape overwhelming to take in, but very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such beautiful photos! My husband has just started to get into photography, so I'm enjoying all the walks.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been rock climbing in years, but that always tempts me outside :)
what a lovely place this is
ReplyDeleteMarvellous! Goblin valley looks like nature's chessboard!
ReplyDeleteApart from some great writings, this challenge is taking me on a virtual tour of some of the very beautiful places, places I don't know if I would ever get to visit in person.
Thank you for sharing info, photos and the video. And yes, I would want to see these places flying in the balloons shown in the video.
