Support Systems!
We humans tend to flock together with other humans. Well, since writers aren't human, we really need each other. Well, okay, I'm exaggerating a bit, writers are made up of many humans to create us. Where else do all these fantastic, characters come from? Hence, this quote that I have on the inside cover of my journal:
"Writers aren't exactly people...they're a whole bunch of people trying to be one person."
~F. Scott Fitzgerald

What do you call an insane asylum of schizophrenics?
A writer's conference!
Mooahahahaha! >)
So that's why, boys and girls, it's important to have a support group, to keep us on the straight and narrow to Writerdom.
Do you have a support group?
I wonder what our FFWs say about this: Anastasia V. Pergakis, J. D. Brown, Alex J. Cavanaugh, Deirdra Eden-Coppel, M. Pax, Jeffrey Beesler, Charlene A. Wilson, and Andrew J. Cooper!
I didn't have such a support group until this A-Z blogging challenge in which I've come across many writing blogs with lots of helpful advice!

I think happy and well adjusted is overrated. I say stay a little crazy!
ReplyDeleteDuncan, it's great to see all the writing experiences and the journey points we're all at, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMood, LOL! You can say that again! ;D
MVRWA! They're the greatest support group in the world! Well, at least my world.
ReplyDeleteWriters are solitary by need. We have to push ourselves to become parts of groups that work for us. I have been lucky to be part of a wonderful critique group for the last couple of years. They know me and help me immensely. We meet every week, at least when I can get there every week.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am naturally a recluse - it's great to be able to dip into a supportive community too!!! One is not an island afterall! Yay! :-) Take care
ReplyDeleteI have two great critique partners and know I can depend on them to be honest about each chapater as I send it to them. Don't think I could survive without them now!
ReplyDeleteI love having the support system of my crit partners, fellow bloggers, and my writing organizations. It's so nice not to ba alone. :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely need the support! Although I was human last time I checked...
ReplyDeleteI love the Fitzgerald quote! I'm in a local writers group and an online writers group. Both are excellent support systems!
ReplyDeleteI’m A-Z Blogging on Langley Writes about Writing and Langley’s Rich and Random Life
I have great support groups -- online and off. I'm basically a loner and they bring me out among the living.
ReplyDeleteGreat post. Support systems are so important. I have wonderful writer friends who support me (both bloggers and cps). I couldn't do it without any of them.
ReplyDeleteI loved this post. My support system is my family and best friend, and then all you guys!
ReplyDeleteEllie Garratt
Definitely need support in this crazy business. :D
ReplyDeleteI agree that support groups can help - and the online community is great for that. Living a somewhat reclusive existence, I find online groups rather less intimidating than large groups of people in the real world!
ReplyDeleteI love that little joke about the insane asylum! Ana and I have a this little joke "writing is schizophrenia with plot" lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
This crazy business definitely needs a support system to keep us sane!
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you in A to Z.

Hi! Imagine a writer not having a support system? I think it would be super tough. Thanks for dropping by--Happy Easter, everyone! :D
ReplyDeleteI have some very good friends as a support system, and some local writers circles.
ReplyDeleteI'm starting up a 'Critiquing Crusaders' program, where participants in the Second Crusade can find other writers to exchange critiques with or form supportive critiquing circles. If you're interested, come by The Kelworth Files to check it out!
The quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald is so true-- at least for me. A support system makes all the different. Before I found Laurie Sanders, I had no support from my family except from my husband.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
