Hello, let me re-introduce myself . . .

My name is Elizabeth Mueller and I am a writer.

Whew, that was the hardest confession ever. Just kidding. More like the biggest ego-puffing thing I can ever say besides the fact that I have such lovely kidlets. There I go again . . .

Okay, well, I grew up in the hot, little corner of Texas. It is the most western point if you look on the map. El Paso.

My family was poor. Poor. Poor. Okay, not that poor, but poor enough that my little sister and I spent hours illustrating hundreds of pages of stories. (Yes, we even drew way into the wee hours of the dawn!) Kinda like graphic novels with the bubbles and all.

We surely let our minds soar higher than the clouds--beyond the galaxies.

I've always loved living in my made-up worlds. I am goddess there. I create beings. I kill beings. I bring them to their knees. They do as I command. Alright, not all the time because these little characters of mine take on minds of their own and take control of the plot and create havoc a lot of the time until I feel that I've lost myself to the point that it sounds good as it is and shouldn't interfere anymore with my writerly wisdom.

*Sigh* I know you know how that goes. Right?

I've always loved writing. Always. Before I learned how to write, I drew stories. I've always been a story teller. By the time I collected 6 finished, unedited novels, I decided it was time to take it a step further.

So I learned all the rules. I worried over them because I wrote very flowery and had a love affair with adverbs. I attended writers conferences and drew closer to writing friends. (Wow, there's a world full of us!)

I've received a number of rejections thus far and now, am frantically polishing my WIPs for another submission. Hopefully that will do. You think?

I love playing Question and Answer. I would love to answer anything you have in mind. Go ahead. Ask me. Leave me any and all questions. I will post them as soon as I can. ;)

Here are some things to take your mind off of today's date--don't panic.

"Writers aren't exactly people... they're a whole bunch of people trying to be one person."

~F. Scott Fitzgerald

"Writing is a socially acceptable form of schizophrenia."

~E.L. Doctorow

Have a great weekend!

  1. Hi was nice to read all about you. You draw extremely well.

Don't worry about the rejections, they are just one more chance for us writers to polish and rework on our manuscripts. All the best with the submissions.

  2. Hi,

Ah rejections, the most hated thing a writer gets in the mail: next to unsolicited junk mail.

A male writing buddy of mine has a paper hanging-hook in his bathroom, on which he spears his rejections like their toilet paper!! I guess it makes him feel good just thinking about how he could use them if he gets caught short and the toilet roll has run out! ;)

  3. @ francine - surely that would wipe his butt off! Yeouch

  4. Awww thank you for introducing yourself!! :-) It's great to meet you and know a little more of you!

Good luck with your WIP and submissions!!

All I know is that today is Friday and the start of a great weekend! Yay!

    Take care

  5. I love those quotes! Oh, and it's nice to meet you too. Question: Where did you learn the rules? Did you go to university?

  6. Great quotes! And thanks for introducing yourself again. You are just awesome. Don't let the rejections get you down. It only takes one acceptance! I think my own rejection/acceptance ratio is about 100/1!

  7. Enjoyed hearing more about you and love the Fitzgerald quote - how true!

Good luck with polishing that new WIP and getting it out there :)

  8. You are a writer and creater of worlds. SO cool. I grew up the same way. My daughter is the same way (I LOVE that).
If you ever want another reader, just let me know...
I love the glimpses you've given us on your blog.
    Best of Luck to you!
    I'm finishing a big re-write right now.

  9. Great post! I love your writing. Never fear. You'll get picked up and I bet it's soon. Your stories are wonderful. I especially loved what I read of Rockstar! I want to read it all! Call me if you need a reader.

Anyway, You're wonderful. It will happen when you least expect it.

  10. I wish you a ton of luck with the next round of queries! I despise rejection. And I SO need to clean up a bunch of stuff. I think I am waiting because the rejection sucks so bad.

I was also a drawer as a kid, but somehow it didn't stick the same. I think is was my lack of talent *snort*

  11. Thanks for finding me and stopping by my blog. Nice to meet you. *waves*

Keep polishing, keep working on your craft. It'll happen.

    Happy Weekend!

  12. Rejection are hard, I've got quite a few myself, but I'm collecting them so I'm a bit different :) I hope all your polishing works out for your next submission, and if you would like a critiquing buddy I'm willing.

  13. Great post and quotes. Thanks!

    You have a beautiful blog:)

  14. I'm so proud of you for pursuing your dream!

I know you'll be published one of these days. And I know you won't forget us little people when you are.

I'll catch you soon...if no more catastrophes rock my world.

  15. Hey Elizabeth :)
I'm responding to your question about my blogfest. I tried to e-mail you, but there's no link on your profile. I advertised my blogfest back in June, but it isn't taking place until this Wednesday, the 18th of August. Hope that clarifies things for you! :D

  16. Hi Rachna, thank you for your kind thoughts! It's given me a chance to improve my work. It's amazing how much growing I've done (with my editing). Ugh... ;)

Francine--rofl!! How funny! He should take a picture of it and blog about it. That's way too funny to pass up. Thanks for telling me about it.

Nicole--lol!! Sharp edges and all, hu? ;)

Jennifer, I do love the weekends! I hope you have a great one, too! <3

Clarissa, I actually started reading how-to books on writing a good while back. I felt as if I was missing something, though, even when I've been to a few writing conferences already. A friend found me and helped me enroll in Margie Lawson's deep EDITS course and I've just flourished from there! (Of course, my stuff is still a work in progress. *sigh*) ;)

Alex--oh, no. Never. I do admit that it is intimidating relying on others' determinations if my work is good for them or not, but eventually I know that I will get my stuff out there. :D

Angie, so true. It only takes once to be accepted, right? I'll keep that in mind. *Hugs*

    Jaydee, thank you!

Jolene, wow? Really? How cool is that? Wonderful! I know, it's so wonderful to share hobbies with our kids, isn't it? Such a great way to connect with them, too. (I so empathize with working on a big rewrite). My Rock Star is a HUGE rewrite. It started out with under 200 words. Yikes, hu? Now it's over 110,000 words. Yep. I've put soul into that skeleton. *whew* (Now for the editing!)

Melissa, you're so sweet. Thank you. That means a lot coming from you cause I know how much you've worked to where you are right now. I'll definitely keep you in mind when I'm done with my edits. Thank you!!! *HUGS*

Hart, thank you so much! I honestly think that if you have the drive for something (like drawing), you can make it grow. :)

Lola, thank you for the encouragement. One sentence at a time, hu? Thank you for visiting my blog too, and for following!!!! Happy weekend to you, too! :D

Summer, you're so sweet! Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it. I'll need all the luck for when my novel is ready for submission! I'll make sure to keep it updated when the time comes!

Terry, thank you so much! XD

Lisa... I hope things settle down soon in your neck of the forest. ;) You're such a sweet friend. I'll never ever forget my friends. It is my dream--drive--to always be there for anyone who needs me! Promise and X my <3!!!

Rebecca! I know, I'm sorry. *Blushing* I went back and read and only then did I notice the date stamped in the middle of your button. Duh! Thanks for clarifying with me, you're sweet!

  17. Hi Elizabeth! Great post & I love those quotes too! You're such an Awesome person and writer!
I can already tell from your heartfelt comments on my blog and we have similar hearts and caring souls.
So glad to get to know you better!! I can also learn so much from you about writing! I just started this year and have no experience, except life experience and a passion to tell stories and hopefully help people too!

Hope you have a Wonderful weekend, Elizabeth!

    Blessings and Hugs,

  18. Hi Coreen! You're such a sweetie! Thank you! I really like your blog and your touching thoughts you have on there, too.
You're so wonderful to have the desire to help others, it's a wonderful thing!
I have no doubt that you will succeed, with your passion of writing and drawing from experience along with helping others, you will get places! (I'll be here if you need me) :D

I hope you have a great weekend, too! <3

  19. Great post about you... great quotes to follow!!!! I'm a fan of your blog for sure, especially after today!!!

Reminder - Guess that Character Blogfest is this Thursday and Friday! Look forward to describing your character!

  20. Hello Elizabeth. Nice to re-meet you. : j

Your description of your path towards being a story teller is in many ways the opposite of mine. My childhood was mostly spent reading stories and dreaming others in my head.

Trying to tie them down would have been too slow and pointless. Even now, for every twenty stories I take in reading/watching movies/music/etc I dream up twice as many stories and I only fix half of one down.

I guess it's that drive to write that makes you a writer. : j
    Write on writer.

  21. Can't remember which blog mentioned your blog, but I'm glad I followed the link because I loved this particular post. I know what you mean about loving to write because we are like goddesses of our world, but then our characters have a way of taking over! Loved the Fitzgerald quote, too, I haven't seen that one yet.
